Located just a 5 minute stroll from York Station and 10 minutes to the centre of the city or the racecourse is this stunning Grade II listed Georgian townhouse with off street parking and EV charging point.
Careful thought has gone into every detail of this magnificent holiday home and your comfort and enjoyment has been thought of in every aspect of the design.
From the master bedroom on the top floor with its queen-size wrought iron bed with pillow top mattress, bedside lamps incorporating wireless chargers and en suite shower room, your restful nights sleep is assured.
Two further beautiful bedrooms on the first floor (one very large bedroom with a king bed and one with a double bed), coupled with a luxurious family bathroom, ensure everyone is thought of. For seven guests or if required a trundle bed can be made up in the large bedroom upon request in advance (extra charge applies).
On the ground floor you have a stylish and spacious lounge complimented by the most elegant and extravagant of dining rooms. The artwork is fabulous and the authentic 1960's cocktail bar provides the perfect back drop for a night in, enjoying a meal cooked in the beautifully equipped kitchen. Choose your own music on the Alexa speaker to set the scene.
A handy computer/coffee bar in the kitchen is there for your or your childrens use.
Outside entertaining is made perfect for you in the enclosed and private courtyard encorporating a dining area and a separate pergola with seating with beautiful ambient festoon lighting and a barbeque to create memorable evenings.
Even though the house is perfectly positioned for the centre of York, the Racecourse or the beautiful Yorkshire Countryside you probably won't want to leave!
No.42 provides everything that you could want for to create your own personal oasis of indulgent luxury right on the doorstep of this fabulous city.
Upon booking you will receive our No.42 guest manual which among other things provides some great recommendations of things to do and see in York as well as places to eat and drink.
Absolutely no Stag or Hen parties - you will be refused entry and/or removed from the house. No all male/female groups without permission.
The front door encorporates a digital lock for keyless access. Parking for 1 or 2 cars on the drive (2 can be cosy depending on size of cars)

There are 3 double beds (1 super king, 1 queen, 1 double).
When there are 7 guests or if sharing a bed is not possible for smaller groups then there is a single bed located under the king in the very large 1st floor bedroom. For bookings of 7 guests the single bed will automatically be made up. For bookings of 6 people or less when the single bed is required, it must be booked in advance as it will not be possible to set up on the same day.

The landlord was very friendly and, knowing that we had a lot of luggage, allowed us to check in early and check out late. The house was very well designed and really caught the eye. There were small gifts from the landlord in the living room. In short, it was a wonderful accommodation experience.

May 2025Paul’s place was ideal for our short stay in York with adult family. A short walk to Micklegate Bar, just a bit further to the city centre, with cafes, restaurants and pubs along the way. The house has been very well renovated, with a nice vibey feel about it. Parking space for two cars is a really welcome bonus in central York. The “instruction manual” is clear and comprehensive, supported by Paul’s quick response to any questions.

April 2025We booked this house for a girlie weekend away and it was great. Within walking distance of the centre of York with parking on the drive for both our cars. The house is so stylish, with amazing artwork and decor. The outside seating area at the back would have been perfect for us but sadly it wasn't warm enough! Paul the host was very communicative and helpful too, we would highly recommend it!

February 2025Stayed at no.42 for a girls weekend and couldn’t have loved our stay more. Paul was the most wonderful host and couldn’t have been more helpful, accommodating, and responsive. We had everything we needed including a smart travel cot and fab high chair. There is space for 2 small SUV type cars (think Kia Sportage x2 if that’s helpful). The house is beautifully done, super super comfy beds, spacious bedrooms and fab bathrooms. We will most certainly be returning next time we are up in York and can’t wait to come back.

February 2025Lovely townhouse near the centre of York, we were able to park on the drive and walk to everything easily. The house is stylish and contained everything we needed for our stay. As described, there is a low ceiling on the stairs up to the second floor, but the bedroom up there is surprisingly spacious as is the bathroom. My 6'2" son and daughter had plenty of room.

February 2025This is a very lovely place to stay to see all of York and the surrounding areas. The house is very stylish and a welcoming and nice place to come back to at the end of a busy day out and about. It was super clean on arrival, including all furniture, linens and carpets. We have stayed in many holiday homes as a family over the last 15 years. This is by far the best and most comfortable. We would recommend very highly and we're quite fussy!!
